     What is a Smoker?

German smokers are originally from the Erzgebirge mountain region of southeastern Germany. The people of this region found themselves without the means to provide for their families and began focusing on traditional woodworking. They soon became known for their wooden toys, Christmas decorations and German smokers. The smokers are handmade wooden incense burners made from the same piece of wood. An incense cone is placed on the base of the smoker and the hollowed out top of the smoker fits over the cone. The smoke from the cone is forced out of the top through a small hole.
